La Baignade is inspired by a cherished place from my childhood—a bridge in a small village in the heart of Franche-Comté, France. Under this metal Eiffel-style bridge, my cousins and I spent endless summer days swimming in the Ognon River, laughing, and leaping into the water. It’s where I learned to swim—a place of pure joy and belonging.
This installation captures those memories. The tree-lined horizon transforms into porcelain cylinders, each uniquely coloured in shades of green with oxides and stains. Below, smaller white stoneware cylinders, coated in a rusty turquoise glaze, reveal glimpses of blue slip beneath—echoing the river’s ever-changing reflections and the bridge rusty metallic surface.
