This project is a deeply personal exploration of my family history, tracing our roots back to Peru. The sarcophagus represents my father's memories—he often described building a metaphorical one around his childhood after losing his parents at a young age.
It stands as a tribute to the joyful moments he shared with them, moments that remained just out of reach.
Crafted from white stoneware clay, the piece was created using a variety of techniques including wheel throwing, slab building, and press moulding. I used coloured slips and paper stencils to evoke traditional Peruvian textile patterns, weaving cultural identity into the work.
