"Pavement of Life" is a project born from the theme of Urban Detritus. As I wandered through the city, I began to notice the unexpected beauty beneath our feet—patterns and shapes formed by worn pavements. Geometric, yet imperfect. The colours blend into the structure, much like emotions shaping the paths we walk each day.
"Pavement of Life" is a project born from the theme of Urban Detritus. As I wandered through the city, I began to notice the unexpected beauty beneath our feet—patterns and shapes formed by worn pavements. Geometric, yet imperfect. The colours blend into the structure, much like emotions shaping the paths we walk each day.
Each pavement piece is shaped using an extruder and then cut into small cubes. Some are coated with black or red slip, while others are left bare. After the bisque firing, I apply a dry glaze brushed with oxide-based colours to create varied, textured surface effects.
'Pavement of Life' installation has been shown to the public as part of the "Work in Progress" - City Lit Ceramics Diploma exhibition in September - October 2025 at the City Lit Main Hall.
